General of Brigade
General de Brigada

A particular thing happens with the rank of Brigadier: in some countries this is the equivalent to a Brigadier General (one star/sun depending on the country for the symbol, but regarded as the first rank to have the name of "General"). In Chile however, even though Brigadier is above the rank of Colonel, it is part of the ranks of Superior Officers and it is the highest rank, then the three ranks of General Officers follow (Brigade General, Division General and General of the Army), not starting with one five-pointed white star as costume, but starting at two five-pointed white stars.
Esteban Rivera, 23 March 2014

This rank is sometimes referred to as "brigadier general," but is more accurately "general of brigade" or "brigade general."

There is no one-star rank in the Chilean Army per se; a one-star rank flag is used by a Chilean Army Brigadier or Colonel holding the position of Defense Attaché or Military Attaché.

Colonel's color
Bandera colonela

In addition to the military color, particularly distinguished units are apparently authorized a second flag known as a bandera coronela (colonel's color). The photos I have seen show this as a red field with a large white five-pointed star. In the angles of the star are the names and dates of battle honors surrounded by laurel wreaths, all in gold, while in an arc above the star is the designation of the unit, also in gold. The flag is surrounded by gold fringe; the finial seems to be a star.
